About these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and Wakeman Advisory Ltd, trading as Self Build Budget ("we", "us"). We are registered in England and Wales (company number 14373323), and our registered office is Belmont Suite, Paragon Business Park, Chorley New Road, Horwich, Bolton, BL6 6HG.

By creating an account you agree to these terms. Please read them alongside our privacy notice at selfbuildbudget.com/privacy, which explains how we look after your information.

Who can use Self Build Budget

You must be 18 or over to create an account. Self Build Budget is designed for people managing their own self build or renovation project in the UK.

Your account

• Keep your sign-in details safe and do not share them. You are responsible for what happens in your account.
• You can invite up to five partners to your project. As the project owner, you are responsible for who you invite, and you can remove them at any time.
• Tell us straight away at hello@selfbuildbudget.com if you think someone has got into your account.

Plans and payment

• You can use the Free plan for as long as you like.
• Standard costs £12 a month and Professional costs £20 a month. Both prices include VAT.
• Paid plans are billed monthly in advance through Stripe and renew automatically until you cancel.
• If we change our prices, we will give you at least 30 days' notice by email before the new price applies to you.

Cancelling and refunds

• You can cancel a paid plan at any time from your account. Your plan stays active until the end of the month you have paid for, then your account moves to the Free plan.
• We do not give refunds for part months.
• If you are a consumer, the law normally gives you 14 days to cancel a contract for digital services. When you start a paid plan, you ask us to give you access straight away, and you agree that you lose this right to cancel once the service has started.
• Nothing in these terms affects your other legal rights as a consumer.

Your data

• Your project data belongs to you. You give us permission to store and process it only so we can run Self Build Budget for you.
• You can export and download all your data, quotes, invoices and documents at any time.
• You can delete your account at any time. It closes straight away and is deleted 7 days later, unless you change your mind before then.

Using Self Build Budget fairly

Please do not:

• upload anything unlawful, or anything you do not have the right to share
• try to get into other people's accounts or projects, or test or break our security
• copy, resell or reverse engineer the service
• use the service in a way that harms it or other people using it

If you break these terms, we may suspend or close your account. Where we can, we will tell you first and give you the chance to put things right.

Figures, suggestions and advice

Self Build Budget helps you organise your budget, quotes, payments and VAT records. Estimates, ranges and typical costs are a guide only.

Our AI document scanning suggests details from the documents you upload. Please check each suggestion before you confirm it.

Self Build Budget does not give financial, tax, VAT, legal or construction advice. Decisions about your build, your money and your VAT reclaim are yours. If you are unsure, speak to a qualified professional, such as an accountant or a quantity surveyor.

Keeping the service running

We work hard to keep Self Build Budget available and your data safe, but we cannot promise the service will always be available or free of errors. We may sometimes need to take it offline for maintenance.

We may change or improve features over time. If we ever close Self Build Budget, we will give you at least 30 days' notice so you can export your data.

Our liability to you

• Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit.
• We are not responsible for losses that were not foreseeable, for business losses, or for decisions you make based on figures or suggestions in Self Build Budget.
• Otherwise, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you have paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

Changes to these terms

If we make an important change to these terms, we will email you at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you do not agree, you can cancel and export your data before then.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes will be dealt with by the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your local courts.
